If you missed the Taste of Atlanta this year, you missed what could almost be described as a festival for your taste buds! The Taste of Atlanta is a staple food, wine & cocktail festival that has been around for over a decade. The 3-day food festival featured 90 restaurants, 4 live cooking stages, and the option of enjoying the VIP Experience, which included sample cocktails, craft beers and wines from around the world.
I had the opportunity to cover this event on Sunday and it was truly the highlight of my weekend. I attended the event with my brother, George who also was my photographer for the day, and my good buddy Angela, who was very instrumental in brining Tish Around Town to life.
The weather was prefect, which was a key ingredient to making Sunday a perfect day for tasting some of the best food Atlanta has to offer. Our taste buds were aroused with the smell of good food even before we entered the gates. Everything looked tempting so I knew we were in store for a tasty day. We started with getting the lay of the land, and coming up with the perfect plan for eating our way through the streets of Tech Square. The coordinators of this festival made it easy for getting around by grouping the restaurants by neighborhoods. This was a great way to experience food from a particular neighborhood or area of town.
I’ve been to a few food festivals in my day, and the one thing I can say about the Taste of Atlanta, is the food portion to food ticket ratio was perfect for tasting. The majority of the tastings were 2 – 3 tickets each, and most of the portions could be shared to allow for you to taste more food. On top of tasting the food, there were some fun interactive chef demos and food competitions featuring some of Atlanta’s best chefs.
I had a great time meeting some of my social media friends, and I made some new friends along the way. If you like trying different foods, or want to learn more about food, make sure you add the Taste of Atlanta on your list of things to do in 2015. This is a Tish Around Town approved festival, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I will let the pictures below tell my Taste of Atlanta culinary journey. See you next year!
